Midway was a really great movie and I enjoyed every minute of it but to my dismay, there was only one African-American sailor in the movie and you only see the back of his head briefly! My father actually fought in the Battle of Midway and I personally feel that African-Americans were misrepresented in this movie, which is unbelievable due to the sacrifices they gave!

Not even the mention of Doris "Dorie" Miller? What gives.

Most of them don't age well, are hard to relate to, and look and feel outdated.

The original film from 1976 can teach this new version a thing or two.
Well, make that everything.
As stilted and wooden the older movie might be at times, it delivers a credible portrayal of naval warfare, and might even be historically correct.
This new movie is a mediocre compilation of best-of, seen a 1000 times before scenes of that infamous battle, devoid of depth, accuracy and loaded with shallow stereotypes.

Great movie! Watched it on Veterans' Day. I am so thankful for the men who fought for freedom. This movie is a tribute to them and our great country.
